What Is the Gonstead System of Chiropractic?
With the Vertebral Subluxation, your joints, muscles, nerves and organs may be affected.

This is the result of impaired spinal function with inflammation, lack of mobility and interference to normal nerve activity. A wide variety of bodily symptoms such as pain, numbness and tingling can follow, as well as problems with internal organs such as your lungs, stomach and bowel.*

The Gonstead System of Chiropractic is a method used by Chiropractors to analyse and care for the spine. They use a number of different analytical tools to systematically locate subluxations and find the cause of spinal and nervous system dysfunction.

Chiropractors dedicated to utilising the Gonstead System perform specific manual adjustments to the spine. It is a gentle technique suited to everyone from infants to the elderly and is an accurate means of analysis and correction of the Subluxation.

Your Body.... Your Health...

All functions of the body are totally controlled by the nervous system.

This system consists of the brain, spinal cord, nerve roots and all the nerves in your body. The brain is protected by the skull and the spinal cord is protected by the 24 bones, or vertebrae, of the spinal column.

Any of these bones can lose their normal function and alignment through trauma or injury. This can interfere with the nervous system causing pain or ill health, and is, in Chiropractic terms defined as a Subluxation.

Dr. Clarence Gonstead
Dr. Clarence Gonstead developed the Gonstead System over 55 years from 1923 up to his death in 1978 and, with his level of skill locating and correcting subluxations, became known as the Chiropractor’s Chiropractor.

His system has been passed on to the profession without the need for change and has stood the test of time, becoming one of the most widely practised methods of Chiropractic in the world.

His motto has been successfully adopted by thousands of Gonstead Chiropractors around the world. It is:

  1. FIND IT (The Subluxation)
  2. ACCEPT IT WHERE YOU FIND IT
  3. FIX IT
  4. LEAVE IT ALONE

What to Expect

To find out if we can help you, we ask questions and listen.
Second Visit
We’ll report what we found and answer all your questions.

A typical visit will be much shorter, but just as important!

Feel at Home

You will immediately feel at home the moment you walk in the door. If you’ve ever gone to a social event where you didn’t know anyone, you know how uncomfortable that can make you feel. Our goal is to eliminate every shred of apprehension and make you feel at home.

Since chiropractic care involves a series of visits, with each one building on the ones before, it’s important that our relationship can go the distance. We’ve found that one of the best ways to have successful patient relationships is to explain everything in advance. No surprises!

The more you understand who we are, what we do and why we do it, the better results you’ll enjoy.
It’s as simple as that.

So, check us out here. Poke around. Get to know us.
Then, contact us to make an appointment so we can get to know you.

Specific and Effective

A Gonstead Adjustment Is Specific

After complete evaluation, your Chiropractor will have a thorough understanding of your problem and its location.

It is then possible to provide a specific, accurate and precise adjustment to correct the Subluxation. The focus is to adjust subluxated segments only, as these are the cause of the problem. Other areas which feel tender are often tissues that are compensating and may not require an adjustment.

A Gonstead adjustment is a specific force, delivered by hand only. This provides individual control over the adjustment so that it can be varied to suit any situation and any person.

Restore Proper Function

With the Gonstead System, your adjustment is designed to restore proper function to your spine and remove irritation to your nervous system. Your body can then begin its natural healing process, operating at its full potential.

It is important to have your spine checked regularly and not left until you experience pain or other symptoms. This will help maintain correct spinal function and optimum health. There are times when your Gonstead Chiropractor may decide that an adjustment is not required, but this can only be determined by a thorough spinal examination.
